M K D P charitable Hospital was started in 1999 as a primary health centre to address the urgent medical needs of the rural population in and around Hambran on the outskirts of  Ludhiana. The desire to help the poor rural population and make accessible reasonable quality healthcare at an affordable cost prompted, late Sh. Sohan Lal Pahwa (Chairman Avon Cycles) to start this hospital.

Today, it is serving as the only modern hospital for the 40 odd surrounding villages.
